ICE raids in state courthouses around the country have been steadily escalating*. ICE scans public dockets and communicates with state judicial marshals for information or aceess to community members^. We cannot allow ICE to exploit our courthouses as their stalking grounds!
People should be able to rely on our state judicial system to seek justice without fear of persecution. ICE presence in our courthouses violates basic rights, perpetuates police violence, and heightens public unrest. Several recent incidents around Connecticut demonstrate the disturbing nature of ICE presence in courthouses+@.
Folks in Connecticut have been fighting for years to prohibit ICE from the premesis of our state courthouses. While the 2019 TRUST Act severely restricts judicial marshals from honoring warrantless ICE detainers and other requests, ICE still has free access to further corrupt our courthouses. See below for information and resources on our continuing fight to get ICE out of our courts!
